Ethiopia Shuts Down the Country’s Internet to Beat Exam Leaks
When one small problem can cause a whole other system to
be shut down.
When it comes to cheating, the school authorities will
always ensure that they go to a lot of lengths to prevent exam malpractices —
some check to see if the answers have been scribbled on parts of their
body/Math set/calculator/four figure table while others collect their phones—
but one country has taken an extreme approach by completely shutting down the
country’s internet in a bid to keep students from cheating.
On Tuesday, while Ethiopian students (comprising of 1.2
million 10th graders and additional 300,000+ 12th-grade students) were
preparing to sit for exams on Wednesday, the country’s internet was shut down
to prevent exam leaks.

Samsung introduces Notebook 9 Pro with S-pen
Samsung Notebook 9 Pro |
We've seen the stylus before as part of Samsung's Note smartphone lineup. But this is the first time the company has built it into a laptop.
It's a timely inclusion. Microsoft's rival Surface Pro comes complete with a stylus and was launched a little over a week ago. The company is also pushing hard on its Windows Ink platform.
Samsung's S Pen is compatible with Windows Ink and also offers Air Command, a quick access menu for drawing and editing that Note fans will recognise. The stylus is designed to get the most out of the convertible Notebook 9 Pro's 360-degree touchscreen display, meaning you'll be able to annotate and draw in laptop, tent, tablet or display mode.
Samsung also says the S Pen always stays on and will never require charging, kinda like those retro "pens" that your grandparents used to use.
Key features
360-degree touchscreen display (1,920x1080)
Built-in S Pen with 4,000 pressures levels
Windows 10 Home OS
Intel Core i7-7500U processor
13.3-inch model (8GB DDR4 RAM) and 15-inch model (16GB DDR4 RAM)
256GB SSD
Supports fast charging via USB-C port

Can you guess what Android O will be called?
Oreos.
Oatmeal cookies. Orangina. Oranges. Ozark pudding. We've been ruminating over
what it is that Google will officially call Android O, but we still don't know!
Just like we didn't know that we'd be downloading Marshmallow or Nougat until
the mobile operating system was raring to go.
What
dessert do you think Android O will be named after? There are plenty of you who
are surely convinced that Oreo is it. The
more I think about it, the more I realize Oreo's actually a pretty solid name,
ignoring all other issues that arise.
We're
dubious ourselves about that, though, considering the rampant availability of
Oreo packets that were placed around the premises at Google I/O . The search
company is known for effectively trolling attendees — it did the same in 2016
with bite-sized packets of Nutella — so the mere mention of such a dessert
isn't a guarantee that it's the name.
A Carbon Dioxide - CO2 Conversion Factory under Construction
Climeworks factory in Zurich, Switzerland |
A
Swiss company on May 31 is set to become the world's first to commercially
remove carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere and turn it into a useful
product.
Climeworks
, which will begin operations at a facility near Zurich, Switzerland, plans to
compress the CO2 it captures and use it as fertilizer to grow crops in
greenhouses. The company wants to dramatically scale its technology over the
next decade, and its long-term goal is to capture 1% of global annual carbon
dioxide emissions by 2025.
Along
with cutting fossil fuel use to zero, removing carbon dioxide from the air is
increasingly seen as one way to stop the long-term buildup of greenhouse gases
in the atmosphere. Carbon removal and storage coupled with drawing down fossil
fuel use is called "negative emissions."
